Aboriginal Counseling Services of Alberta offers no-cost services to Indigenous clients with various programs in art therapy, mental wellness, and healing.

Anchor Men’s Groups – Momentum Counselling

Anchor Men’s Group offers weekly group sessions where men discuss coping with relationship breakdown, crisis, anger, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, identity, grief, and healthy relationships. You can share as much or as little as you want, everyone is given the opportunity to speak.

 

Registration is through the group’s website. In-person sessions are offered every Thursday 6:30pm-8:30pm, and virtual sessions are offered every Tuesday 6:30pm-8:30pm.

Edmonton Violence Prevention Centre: Changing Pathways Groups

Changing PathWays is a court-approved treatment program for men or women that are abusive to their partners. Sessions are done in groups, with different phases once you’ve learned various skills in the program. Sessions are currently done virtually.

Islamic Family and Social Services Association

IFSSA offers family and mental health supports, including finding safety, one-on-one support, counselling, and help understanding marital rights in Islam, legal rights in Canada, and finding resources & healthy coping strategies. They also provide court-mandated supports to perpetrators of violence wanting to learn healthy relationships and healthy behaviours. Sessions are currently done virtually.

Strive: Men’s Healthy Relationships Group: The Family Centre

Strive is a group for men to support building healthier relationships.  

This program focuses on building more fulfilling relationships and balanced life with healthier approaches to conflict, including situations where there could be violence. It will help you enhance your well-being by showing you how to develop healthier relationship skills based on your own personal values and what you want your life to be.

The small group is facilitated by a mental health therapist.

 

To register you must first attend a free information session. These are 30 minute sessions held on Wednesdays at 4:30pm at their downtown Edmonton office.

Mediation and Restorative Justice Centre: Building Safer Ground

Offers a highly specialized program with opportunities for families to have a supported dialogue to address issues related to family violence.

It provides a safe, supported environment for family members to address issues related to family violence, understand the impact of behaviours, and create action plans by using a restorative process.

 

To register, call for more information and to be referred to an appropriate facilitator.

Edmonton Mennonite Centre: Safe Families

Safe Families is a program for newcomer men and boys. It focuses on sharing conversations and knowledge about healthy relationships and preventing domestic violence. The men and the boys do separate conversations facilitated by knowledgeable and experienced individuals.

EJHS has programs aiming to increase knowledge and awareness of family violence and assist clients in reducing barriers and providing a safe and supportive environment to make informed choices.

The 24-Hour Distress Line provides immediate support for those in crises: contemplating suicide, feeling overwhelmed, or experiencing abuse.

Addiction Recovery and Community Health (ARCH)

ARCH strives to improve health outcomes and health care access for patients with substance use disorders. This team delivers specialty consult services to emergency department patients and hospital inpatients at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
